One south Belmont resident suggested looking at neighboring Mount Holly for development inspiration, urging city leaders to push development towards Belmont. City officials believe that halting construction will provide crews with enough time to upgrade infrastructure to a functional level. The council also approved a $215,000 contract with Charlotte-based Willis Engineers to evaluate the system upgrade and associated costs.
